Though all these seem appealing; it is not necessary to go to a gym to get a workout. There are several ways to make sure that you get the cardio workout without making the effort to go to the gym. These are easy or almost effortless ways help you to get the benefits of a cardio workout without your body getting the signals that it is about to go through the stress of a full blown workout.

You can start out first thing in the morning.  Whilst still in bed, do a few leg raises. Then a few stomach crunches. Then maybe get up a few minutes early and then go out around the neighbourhood or garden for a quick walk. You need not work out. Just walk at a pace where your body begins to feels the stress and you begin to breathe heavily. If you have milk delivered to the door, cancel the milkman and walk to the corner shop  to buy your milk. This kind of moderate exercise is the best as it reduces the risk of accidents and injuries.

Another thing that you can do is to walk to work. Ditch your car and the carpool and forget about public transportation. If it’s too far, walk to the bus stop and catch a bus. Not only will you end up saving some money you will also automatically get a workout for about 20 to 30 minutes. The exercise will help you to be more alert during the day and you will notice your productivity increase drastically. If you run the risk of getting late in the morning; you could always back home from work. When you’re at work, always use the stairs, never the lift.  If you catch the bus, get off a stop early and walk the rest.

Dance whenever the opportunity arises. This is a great cardio workout. As a matter of fact; dance as a form of exercise is now gaining lots of popularity and is a good form of exercise as it is sure to break you out in a sweat. When you dance you exercise almost all parts of your body and tone it in the process. Grab your partner or simply stand in front of your full length mirror and dance for 15 to 20 minutes a day. Or you can put on some music whilst cooking, and move with the music. It will help you to loosen up, get rid of any stress and give your entire body a workout.

If all that sounds too easy, going swimming. Lots of swimming = lots of slimming.
